Fictional character biography

An enemy of the Justice Society of America, the chaos sorcerer Fredric Vaux originally existed on the parallel world of Earth-Two in the DC Multiverse. He is responsible for the death of that world's Batman.[1]

Seeking to eliminate the memory of all superheroes from his world, Vaux grants powers of pyrokinesis to an ex-convict named Bill Jensen. Jensen begins a rampage through Gotham City, prompting the elderly Bruce Wayne (retired from costumed heroism and serving as Gotham's police commissioner) to don his Batman costume one last time.

As he battles Jensen, both Batman and the criminal perish in the fiery conflict. When Vaux's role in this tragedy is discovered, he is hunted down and defeated by the Justice Society.[2]

Following the Crisis on Infinite Earths, the Multiverse is collapsed into a single universe, eliminating the history of Earth-Two. It is unknown if Fredric Vaux exists in the post-Crisis timeline or in the reborn Multiverse that results from the events of Infinite Crisis.
